Congratulations to Hunter Pert on his team's third-place finish and his impressive performance.
Onehunga High School Year 10 student Hunter Pert achieved an excellent result at the 2026 New Zealand Inline Hockey National Championships, held in Hamilton during the first week of the school holidays. Hunter captains the Mount Mustangs Under 14 team, which finished third overall at the national tournament.
This year, the Mount Mustangs combined players from Auckland and Mount Maunganui to form one team. Despite training separately throughout the season, the players came together for league games and competed at Nationals, beginning on Saturday 26 September. The team played seven games during the tournament, working hard through pool play to secure their third-place finish.
Hunter also had an impressive individual tournament, scoring eight goals and providing two assists. In addition to his playing achievements, Hunter qualified as an inline hockey referee during 2026 and officiated several junior games at the National Championships.
We are very proud of Hunter's achievements, both as a player and a referee. His leadership, sporting success and willingness to contribute to the game through refereeing are worthy of recognition. Well done, Hunter!
