Congratulations to Anthony Keung on coaching Counties Manukau U14 Whero to an undefeated regional title.

Onehunga High School's Director of Basketball, Anthony Keung, has led the Counties Manukau U14 Whero team to victory at the 2026 Under 14 Northern Regional Basketball Championships, held in Tauranga from 7 to 10 October. The tournament featured representative teams from across the northern region, stretching from Te Tai Tokerau to Rotorua. Counties Manukau remained undefeated throughout the competition, recording an average winning margin of 35 points on their way to the final. In a closely contested championship match against hosts Tauranga, the team secured an 87–80 overtime victory to claim the regional title.

This latest success adds to Anthony's coaching achievements, which include three national championship-winning teams. His experience coaching representative basketball is an asset to OHS as we continue to strengthen our school basketball programme and provide further opportunities for our students. Anthony also leads our OHS Basketball Academy, which will expand in 2027 to include both Year 9 and Year 10 students. The academy provides opportunities for young players to develop their basketball skills through additional coaching and training.

We are very proud of Anthony's achievement and congratulate him and the Counties Manukau U14 Whero team on their regional championship victory.

Students and whānau interested in joining the OHS Basketball Academy in 2027 are encouraged to contact our Director of Basketball, Anthony Keung, at [email protected] for further information about the programme and enrolment opportunities.
