Our top teams and athletes will be recognised at a special awards evening on Wednesday 28 October.

Awards season begins in Week 2 this term, with one of the highlights of the school sporting calendar being the Annual Onehunga High School Premier Sports Awards, taking place on the evening of Wednesday 28 October. The Premier Sports Awards are a formal occasion recognising our highest achieving junior and senior teams, alongside individual athletes who have excelled in their sports throughout the year. The evening provides an opportunity to celebrate the sporting achievements of our students and recognise their hard work throughout the season.

As Deputy Principal Matthew Haines explains, the school is continuing to strengthen its focus on sporting excellence. The awards are an opportunity to celebrate our students' achievements and encourage younger athletes as they progress through their sporting careers at OHS. This year's Premier Sports Awards will recognise our leading teams in Basketball, Cricket, Football, Netball, Rugby and Volleyball. These include our top boys' and girls' basketball teams, leading cricket team, junior and senior football First XIs, A Grade netball teams, Rugby First XV and Senior A volleyball teams. Students achieving success in other school sports will also be recognised through school assemblies and prizegiving ceremonies.

The Premier Sports Awards will be a ticketed event featuring a sit-down meal, guest speaker and entertainment. Award recipients will receive gifts sourced from SAS, and students attending are expected to wear formal or cultural attire. We look forward to celebrating the achievements of our students and recognising the contribution of those who have represented OHS in sport throughout 2026.
