Year 9 Students Raise Funds for Mental Health Awareness Week

Year 9 Students Raise Funds for Mental Health Awareness Week

Kaitiaki class 9WT held a successful fundraiser in support of mental wellbeing.

On Friday 16 October, students from Shital Wati's Kaitiaki class, 9WT, organised a bake sale and sausage sizzle to support Mental Health Awareness Week, raising $772.93 for the Mental Health Foundation of New Zealand. This year's theme, “Belonging Matters” (Ko au ko koe, ko koe ko au — I am you, and you are me), highlights the importance of feeling connected and included in our communities. The fundraiser was a great way for our students to put this message into practice while supporting an important cause.

The students worked hard to organise the event, with wonderful support from staff and the wider school community. Thank you to everyone who baked, purchased food, made donations or helped with the equipment and arrangements. A special congratulations to the students of 9WT and their Kaitiaki teacher, Shital Wati, for organising such a successful fundraiser. It was a fantastic effort and a great example of students making a positive contribution to our school community.
