A week of Niuean culture, food and performances brought our school together.
Niue Language Week has been a wonderful celebration at Onehunga High School, with students sharing their language and culture through a range of activities during the week. On Wednesday, students enjoyed Niuean food stalls outside Te Kura Whānui, while Thursday brought Niuean sports on the top field during second break. The celebrations finished today with wonderful performances in the hall during second break, showcasing Niuean culture and providing a fantastic end to the week's celebrations.
Throughout the week, students were also introduced to Niuean greetings and proverbs, including Tagata ne ai kiva tau lima, nakai fai tonuhia ke fai talahauaga, which reminds us of the importance of contributing to our community and serving others. Thank you to everyone who helped organise the activities and to our students who participated throughout the week. It was great to see Niuean language and culture celebrated at OHS.
Fakaaue lahi!
