We are all on the waka together. It’s a saying that we proudly use to talk about the sense of belonging and togetherness that has been fostered at our school. Our distinctive school emblem shows a waka sailing for the stars, and we believe that our school experience is what will help our students to reach for the stars, aspire to greatness and be courageous in their ventures.
2025 sees the launch of our Reach for the Stars fund, which has been created to ensure our student experience is best in class, funding the essential parts of the school experiences that go beyond the classroom.
The fund exists to offer student enrichment where the need is greatest. We recognise that not all items and activities can be included in the school budget and to maintain the high standards of the school, its teachers, grounds and learning culture, we have created this fund to positively impact the wider Onehunga High School goals.
Donating to the Reach for the Stars fund means you can help ensure we can meet the holistic needs of our student community. From creating covered spaces to offer students shade in the summer to updating sports courts and teaching spaces, this fund will ensure Onehunga High School offers so much more than just education for our students; it will offer them a place of safety and belonging, an optimal learning environment, and a campus they will be proud to start each day at.
Above our school entrance is written the phrase te hiranga which means to excel. It is precisely this that the Reach for the Stars fund will empower.
How to donate to the Reach for the Stars fund
