This week, we held our final full school assembly for 2024.
This week, we held our final full school assembly for 2024.
It was an important opportunity to farewell Associate Principal Mr. Gareth Leadbeater, who is leaving us to take up the position of Principal at the MIT School of Secondary-Tertiary Studies. Principal Shameen Hayat spoke of Mr. Leadbeater's 27 years of service to the school, which have touched many lives, and we wished him well on his new journey as Principal. Mr. Leadbeater spoke fondly of his time at OHS, expressing that it will always be a very special place for him. The whānau class performed a moving haka to honor Mr. Leadbeater's leadership, a fitting tribute to his impact on our community.
Ms Hayat also bid farewell to the Year 13 students, acknowledging that it was a bittersweet moment for us all. "We have watched you grow, learn, and develop over these past years," she reflected. "You have shown resilience, creativity, and determination, and we couldn’t be prouder of each one of you."
Additionally, it was great to hear from each council member, who took the stage to reflect on their year and share their achievements. Their stories highlighted the incredible growth and teamwork that have defined this school year, showcasing not just their individual accomplishments but also the spirit of collaboration and support that thrives at OHS.
As we closed this chapter, the assembly served as a reminder of the strong bonds we’ve built and the bright futures that lie ahead for all of our students.
