The Senior Netball team recently represented the school at the Upper North Island Secondary Schools (UNISS) Tournament — one of the three premier regional competitions for school netball in New Zealand.
As a key stepping stone to the National Championships, UNISS is a highly competitive event, attracting 128 teams across four grades, making it one of the largest sporting events during Winter Tournament Week.
Competing in the C Grade, the team played 10 games across the competition. Playing for five consecutive days tested their skill, endurance, and teamwork. Despite the tough schedule, the players produced several close results and showed strong determination throughout the tournament to finish with four wins and finish 27th overall after a demanding week of competition.
The experience gained at UNISS will be invaluable for the team. With only one Y13 student in the squad, returning players have had a taste of the higher level of netball and we hope to continue to develop and build towards future success here at OHS.
