Our Year 13 Visual Arts students recently immersed themselves in a full day of creativity and inspiration at the Auckland Art Gallery, stepping beyond the classroom to experience art firsthand.
The day began with a guided tour through a range of public exhibitions, where students explored powerful artworks, shared interpretations, and engaged in thoughtful discussions about artistic ideas and techniques. In the gallery’s studio space, they then rolled up their sleeves for a hands-on workshop, experimenting with their own creative approaches and developing fresh ideas inspired by what they had seen.
A highlight of the trip was visiting a special paid exhibition, giving students the opportunity to experience even more world-class art up close before wrapping up an exciting day of learning. The experience left a strong impression on the group, with many students saying they loved seeing artworks in person and appreciated the chance to learn in such an inspiring environment.
