Year 11 Student Xavier White Wins U18 National Orienteering Title

Year 11 student Xavier White claimed three gold medals at the New Zealand National Orienteering Championships and has since been selected to represent New Zealand at the 2026 European Youth Orienteering Championships.

Year 11 student Xavier White recently competed at the New Zealand National Orienteering Championships in the Wairarapa over Easter, running up an age group in the U18 division. Xavier won gold medals in all three individual races: sprint, middle, and long distance, earning the title of U18 National Champion.

Xavier usually competes in the U16 category, making this an outstanding achievement and a reflection of the hard work and commitment he has shown in the sport.

Following his strong performances, Xavier has also been selected for the New Zealand team to compete at the 2026 European Youth Orienteering Championships (EYOC) in Slovenia.

Xavier also represented OHS at the Auckland Secondary Schools Long Distance Orienteering Championships at Woodhill Forest on Tuesday 12 May, where he placed 4th in the Intermediate Boys Championship Grade on a challenging course.

Congratulations to Xavier on these excellent results and on his selection to represent New Zealand. We look forward to following his continued success in orienteering.
