Stevie Robinson Crafts a Special Taonga Box

Year 12 student Stevie Robinson has produced an outstanding piece of work in Elementary Woodwork, demonstrating both creativity and advanced craftsmanship.

As part of the Level 2 Elementary Woodwork course, students design and manufacture a take-home project. They also complete assignment work linked to their practical learning. The course develops advanced fine woodworking skills. Students learn how to plan and monitor the manufacturing process from concept through to completion.

For her project, Stevie created a beautifully crafted taonga box for her baby niece. Every aspect of the project reflects the care and attention she put into the build. One of the standout features is the custom-made handle. Stevie designed and created her own mould before pouring pewter to produce a striking letter "K". The result adds a personal touch to the finished piece.

The completed box showcases a high level of precision, problem-solving, and craftsmanship. Stevie demonstrated impressive skill at every stage of the project. She carefully constructed the box and successfully designed and manufactured the custom handle. Her work is an excellent example of the quality projects being produced in Level 2 Elementary Woodwork. It also highlights the advanced woodworking techniques students develop through the course.

Congratulations, Stevie, on an exceptional achievement.
