Year 10 Food and Hospitality Practical Assessment Delivers Delicious Results

Year 10 Food and Hospitality Practical Assessment Delivers Delicious Results

Students demonstrated strong culinary skills, creativity, and knowledge in a hands-on assessment that combined cooking, research, and real-world feedback.

Students completed their Food and Hospitality practical assessment today. The assessment brought together the knowledge and skills they have developed throughout the term.

Working in pairs, students researched, planned, and created a dish that reflected their learning. They were required to prepare enough food to serve two people and complete their dish within a one-hour timeframe. Students also followed recipes using the correct format and accurate measurements while considering the cost-effectiveness of their chosen ingredients. The assessment extended beyond food preparation. Students researched the history and origin of their chosen dish and explained its connection to a particular region. They also analysed how each ingredient contributed to the flavour of the dish and its overall nutritional value.

Teachers were invited to sample the dishes and provide feedback. This gave students the opportunity to receive comments on their food presentation, flavour combinations, and overall execution. The dishes looked fantastic and reflected the effort students had put into their planning and preparation. Teachers commented on how delicious the food was and were impressed by the presentation.

Well done to all students on a successful practical assessment.
