Congratulations to both OHS hockey teams, whose strong performances this season have earned them places in their respective semi-finals.
While OHS has not fielded a 1st XI hockey team for several years, 2026 has seen renewed interest in the sport through participation in the Auckland Schools Mixed 6-a-side competition.
Following the opening round of games, player numbers grew sufficiently for a second team to be entered, allowing 20 students to represent the school on Friday afternoons. Many of the players are involved in other sporting codes and have taken up hockey as an opportunity to play alongside friends, while others have returned to the sport after playing during their primary or intermediate school years.
Congratulations to all players for their commitment throughout the season and for helping to grow hockey at OHS.
OHS Black has continued its strong form, reaching the Championship semi-finals for the third consecutive year. The team will face Sancta Maria College in a rematch of last year's semi-final. The game will be played at Lloyd Elsmore Park, with a 4:30pm start.
The newly formed OHS White team has also enjoyed an impressive debut season. Made up predominantly of junior students, the side has earned a place in the Plate semi-finals and will take on Pakuranga College at St Cuthbert's, starting at 4:00pm.
Good luck to both teams as they take on the challenge of semi-final hockey this week. Go OHS!
