Studentss and whānau gained valuable insights into university pathways, scholarship applications, and opportunities to support students' future success
Yesterday evening, the Health Science Academy welcomed senior school parents and whānau to a special fono focused on supporting Year 13 students as they prepare for university and scholarship applications. Guest speakers from Moana Pasifika shared practical advice on setting goals, building a strong CV, and making the most of every opportunity. Their message encouraged students to embrace new experiences, take every opportunity that comes their way, and begin building a portfolio of experiences that will strengthen future university and scholarship applications.
Our careers Advisor Kirstin Shaw provided families with an overview of the university and scholarship application process, outlining key timelines, application requirements, and the support available to students as they make important decisions about their future pathways.
Whānau also heard from Year 12 student Linda Tuvuifale and Year 13 student Atelaite Mateaki, who reflected on their experiences in the Health Science Academy Leadership Programme. They spoke about how the programme has strengthened their leadership skills, developed their confidence, and prepared them for future study and career opportunities. With Year 13 students now making important decisions about their future pathways, the evening provided timely information for families navigating university applications, scholarships, and tertiary study options.
Students and whānau are encouraged to regularly visit the school's Careers website at https://ohs.careerwise.school/ and read the Careers Newsletter, which is emailed to students throughout the year. These resources provide up-to-date information on scholarships, tertiary study options, key application dates, and career opportunities.
