Lunchtime volleyball is building class spirit, encouraging participation, and uncovering future talent.
The school gym has been full of energy this week as Year 10 Mentor classes compete in the annual Interform Volleyball Tournament. Running across this week and next, the competition has seen approximately 90 students take to the courts over the first two days, with plenty of classmates cheering from the sidelines.
To ensure everyone had the opportunity to play, the Sports Council created a tenth team, allowing the tournament to run without any byes.
The tournament is part of the Sports Department's ongoing focus on increasing participation, encouraging students to get involved in sport in a fun and social environment. It also provides an opportunity to identify emerging talent, with Head of Volleyball Mr Bryce Griffiths noting that many players who have gone on to represent OHS have first been spotted during this tournament.
Good luck to all teams as the competition continues next week.
