Onehunga High School welcomed the entire Royal Oak Intermediate community for a special matinee performance, showcasing the outstanding opportunities available in the performing arts.
On Friday 26 June, Onehunga High School welcomed the entire Royal Oak Intermediate school community for a special matinee performance of Macbeth. Principal Ms Hayat welcomed students and staff, sharing that the visit was an opportunity for Royal Oak Intermediate students to experience life at Onehunga High School and see first-hand the exciting learning, cultural and performing arts opportunities available to them as they prepare for secondary school. The students were captivated throughout the performance, following the story with great interest and responding with enthusiasm from beginning to end. They were a wonderful audience, and their energy and applause were warmly received by the cast and crew.
For many students, the performance was especially meaningful as they watched older siblings, friends and former classmates take to the stage with confidence and professionalism. Royal Oak Intermediate teachers also enjoyed seeing many of their past students thriving in leading roles, both on stage and behind the scenes.
Royal Oak Intermediate is one of Onehunga High School's largest feeder schools, with many students choosing to continue their education here each year. Events like this provide younger students with an authentic glimpse of secondary school life, demonstrating the opportunities available to discover new passions, develop talents and be part of something special.
We thank the students and staff of Royal Oak Intermediate for joining us and look forward to welcoming many of them back to Onehunga High School in the years ahead.
