Year 12 student Ocean Taupau-Tamotu has secured part-time employment while continuing to achieve strongly in NCEA.
The Gateway programme continues to provide Onehunga High School students with valuable opportunities to connect classroom learning with real-world experience.
Year 12 student Ocean Taupau-Tamotu recently completed a five-week Gateway placement at FreshChoice, where she demonstrated professionalism, initiative and a strong work ethic. Her employer was impressed from the outset, commenting after Ocean's first day, "Ocean was wonderful, listened, took it all on board and worked enthusiastically. Great reflection on the school and looking forward to her coming back next week."
Throughout her placement, Ocean consistently demonstrated excellent time management, reliability and a willingness to learn. As a result of her outstanding performance, she was offered part-time employment. Ocean's success in the workplace is matched by her academic achievement. Having already gained 114 NCEA Level 1 credits and more than 30 Level 2 credits while still in Year 12, she is making excellent progress towards her future goals.
