Celebrating Chinese Language Week at Onehunga High School

Celebrating Chinese Language Week at Onehunga High School

Celebrating Mandarin, culture and diversity at OHS.

Chinese Language Week is a celebration of one of the world's most widely spoken languages and the rich culture and traditions it represents. At Onehunga High School, we are proud to recognise the important role Mandarin plays in our curriculum and the diversity it brings to our school community.

Chinese is a popular and successful language programme at OHS, with many students choosing to study Mandarin from Years 9 to 13. Learning a language develops valuable communication skills, broadens cultural understanding and prepares students for an increasingly connected world.

Throughout the week, students are encouraged to learn a few words of Mandarin, explore Chinese traditions and celebrate the many cultures that make our school such a vibrant and inclusive place.

We are also proud that the University of Auckland's Chinese Language Week video features three Onehunga High School students, recognising their enthusiasm for learning Mandarin and celebrating the positive impact of language learning. We encourage our community to watch the video and join us in celebrating Chinese Language Week.

祝大家中文周快乐! (Wishing everyone a happy Chinese Language Week!)
