Creating opportunities for every culture to be celebrated.

Year 13 student Ariana is our Waka Award winner for Week 4, Term 3, recognised for the many ways she contributes to life at OHS.

As a Cultural Council Leader, Ariana brings excellent organisation, enthusiasm and pride to her role. Last week, she planned the performances for our Cook Islands Showcase as part of Cook Islands Language Week. Earlier this year, she also helped plan and deliver showcases for Diversity Day and Samoan Language Week, and she is already preparing for Tongan Language Week.

For Ariana, these events are about helping students appreciate the diversity of our OHS community and feel confident celebrating their own culture at school. Her contribution also extends to sport. Ariana has played Premier Volleyball for the past three years and coaches a junior girls’ volleyball team. Across culture, sport and leadership, Ariana consistently demonstrates our WAKA values and makes a positive contribution to OHS.
