A 12th place finish capped off a strong week for Premier Netball.

Last week, the Onehunga High School Premier Netball team competed at the Upper North Island Secondary Schools (UNISS) Netball Tournament, finishing 12th in C Grade. The result represented a significant improvement for the team and reflected the progress this young squad has made over the season.

The team began the tournament strongly, securing two important wins in pool play to earn a place in the top 16. The next round proved more challenging, with three losses moving OHS into the bottom eight of the top 16. The players responded strongly on day four, earning two wins to progress to the 9th to 12th playoffs. Both of their final matches were closely contested, with narrow losses eventually seeing OHS finish 12th overall. Across a demanding week of competition, the team continued to compete and represent OHS with resilience and integrity.

The tournament also marked the final games for Year 13 student Suliana Taimani, who leaves the Premier team after making an important contribution to OHS Netball. With the remainder of the squad returning next year and talented younger players progressing through the junior teams, there is plenty to look forward to in 2027.
