We wish all our senior students the very best for their exams.
OHS Preliminary Exams begin on 14 September for students in Years 11, 12 and 13 and continue through to 18 September. These examinations are an important part of the academic year. They provide students with the opportunity to demonstrate their learning and prepare thoroughly for the NCEA examinations in November.
Students should know which examinations they are sitting and continue to revise carefully. All students sitting an examination must meet at the Gym and arrive at least 20 minutes before their scheduled exam time. Morning examinations begin at 8.50am and afternoon examinations at 12.35pm. Students should check their individual timetable carefully and ensure they have the correct equipment with them.
The work students put in now matters. Preliminary examinations provide valuable practice under examination conditions and give students a clear indication of where they are achieving well and where further preparation is needed before November. Where a student is unable to attend an NZQA examination in November, preliminary examination results may also be used as evidence for a derived grade.
We encourage every senior student to approach their examinations with purpose, use the available time well and take pride in their performance. All the very best to our Years 11, 12 and 13 students.
