Year 9 student William brings people together through leadership and initiative.

Year 9 student William is an outstanding student who consistently demonstrates leadership, responsibility, initiative and commitment.

A standout example of his leadership came when, within a single mentoring period, William took the initiative to organise a volleyball team. He brought students together, structured the team and led them through the competition, helping his Kaitiaki secure their first win. Beyond planning and encouraging his teammates, William also made sure that non-playing students were included and supported, reflecting his ability to bring everyone together.

William has further demonstrated commitment through his involvement in the Junior Boys Football team, representing OHS with pride and dedication, including travelling away during Tournament Week. His willingness to give his time, work as part of a team and represent the school speaks to his strong character and sense of responsibility.

William’s leadership, initiative, teamwork and ability to unite others truly stand out. He is a positive role model within our school and a thoroughly deserving recipient of this week’s WAKA Award.
