We are delighted to announce that a pōwhiri was held this morning to formally welcome Philip Lee as our new Deputy Principal.
Mr Philip Lee is a highly experienced educator with a strong background in curriculum leadership, student engagement and staff development. He joins us from Dilworth School, where he led the Mathematics Learning Area. In this role, he introduced a coherent and knowledge-based curriculum for Years 7 to 11 and developed senior pathways aligned with upcoming NCEA changes. He contributed to wider academic planning as part of the curriculum committee and the assessment and reporting working groups. Previously, Mr Lee held leadership roles at Saint Kentigern College, including Head of Mathematics and Coordinator of the IB Diploma Programme. There, he was responsible for cross-curricular leadership and curriculum alignment and played a key part in growing student engagement in senior academic pathways.
His approach to leadership is collaborative and informed by data, with a strong focus on the overall development of students. He has taught across a range of schools, including Pukekohe High School and earlier experience in the United Kingdom. Alongside his leadership in teaching and learning, he has been active in co-curricular life, coaching sports teams, leading outdoor education and supporting student leadership. Mr Lee holds a Master of Educational Leadership with Distinction and is committed to fostering strong professional cultures.
Mr Lee is actively involved in co-curricular life, having coached rugby, football, and cricket, led Duke of Edinburgh expeditions, and supported student leadership programmes and international camps. He has also organised chess and mathematics clubs, encouraging student participation in competitions such as Mathex. His interests include tramping, scuba diving, snowboarding and running and he is a keen follower of cricket, rugby, and pickleball.
He will oversee Year 12, Timetable, Academic Tracking, and the Mathematics Learning Area. We look forward to the knowledge and perspective he brings to our school.
