Level 3 Biology students visited Auckland Zoo this week to deepen their classroom learning. For some students, it was their very first trip to the zoo, making the experience very special.
The students enjoyed a guided tour with knowledgeable zoo staff before heading into the education rooms, where experts shared invaluable insights into the course and trends of human evolution, an area the students have been studying in class and will need to demonstrate an understanding of in their NCEA exams. They also explored how plants and animals respond to their environments over time, focusing particularly on giraffes and flamingos as striking examples of adaptation.
This hands-on experience not only supported their academic studies but also enabled students to see the real-world connections between biology, conservation, and the natural world.
