Onehunga High School juniors make their mark with strong performances at national and regional volleyball championships.
Several Onehunga High School junior volleyball players were successful during the summer break, representing WECA at the IPC Championships and gaining valuable experience against the best young players in the country.
Prince Galumalemanu was selected for the WECA Under 15 Boys team, which achieved a strong fifth place finish at the national championships. Competing at this level provided Prince with the opportunity to test himself against high-quality opposition and continue his development within a demanding competitive environment.
Maisy Autagavaia enjoyed an outstanding summer. She played a key role in the WECA Under 15 Girls team that went on to claim the national title, an impressive achievement that reflects her skill and composure on the court.
During the summer break, Maisy teamed up with fellow Onehunga High School student Charlotte Greentree in the WECA Under 17 beach volleyball pairs. Playing a year above their age group, the pair competed against older and more experienced opponents, showing resilience, determination, and confidence throughout the tournament.
These end-of-year and summer experiences provide a strong foundation as Prince, Maisy, and Charlotte step into our senior volleyball teams this term.
Their performances highlight the strength of volleyball at Onehunga High School and the exciting future ahead for the programme.
