Parents and whānau heard from senior staff about the learning pathways, supports, and opportunities that will guide students through their final years at school.
Last week, families attended the Year 12 and 13 Meet the Deans and Kaitiaki Evening, where senior staff shared important information about expectations, support systems, and opportunities available to students as they begin their senior school journey. Deputy Principal for the Senior School, Karen Bellis, spoke about the importance of attendance, routines, and readiness for learning. She outlined how families, staff, and students can work together to support progress through NCEA Levels 2 and 3.
Year 12 Dean Sarah Cotton and Year 13 Dean Daniel King also presented, giving an overview of the NCEA structure, University Entrance requirements, and the academic supports available, including tutorials, assessment calendars, and regular reporting throughout the year.
Careers Advisor Kristin Shaw provided an overview of the careers programme for 2026. This includes individual careers counselling for all Year 13 students, career planning workshops, university and polytechnic visits, Career Insights lunchtime seminars, workplace visits, and the annual OHS Careers Expo. She encouraged families to stay connected through the Careers website and upcoming newsletters, and reminded students they are welcome to visit the Careers Hub during break times or book an appointment by email. The evening offered families a clear understanding of what lies ahead for senior students in the coming year.
Onehunga High School thanks those who attended and looks forward to partnering with whānau to support students as they work towards their goals.
