Meet the student leaders who will guide the Academic, Arts, Cultural, Service and Sports Councils at OHS in 2026.
Student leadership plays an important role at Onehunga High School by giving students the opportunity to contribute to school life, represent their peers and help build a positive and inclusive school culture. In 2026, five student led councils will work alongside prefects and staff leaders to support academic success, creativity, cultural celebration, service to others and participation in sport. These councils provide a platform for students to develop leadership skills while helping organise events, promote opportunities and celebrate the achievements of the OHS community.
Each council focuses on a key area of school life and is guided by a clear mission that reflects the values and priorities of the school. Through these councils, students are able to lead initiatives, encourage participation and ensure that the voices of students are represented. From promoting academic achievement and creative expression to celebrating cultural diversity, supporting community service and encouraging participation in sport, the councils play a key role in shaping student life at OHS.
