Level 1 Commerce students are strengthening their business knowledge, financial literacy, and entrepreneurial thinking through a nationally supported youth enterprise programme.
This year our school has introduced the Building Entrepreneurial Capital programme as an extra curricular learning opportunity for students. The 16 week programme is funded by the Ministry of Youth Development and the King’s Trust and focuses on developing entrepreneurial capability, financial understanding, and practical business knowledge.
The programme is designed for students aged 15 and over and is structured for a group of approximately 15 to 20 participants. In 2026 it is being delivered exclusively for our Level 1 Commerce students, with between 15 and 20 students attending the sessions each week.
Sessions take place every Tuesday from 3.10pm until around 4.20 or 4.30pm in B2. Each session runs between 60 and 90 minutes and explores key areas including business planning, money pathways, and entrepreneurship skills.
Students participate in a range of interactive activities designed to develop problem solving, networking, financial literacy, and business knowledge. The programme uses hands on learning approaches such as role play, scenarios, and practical activities to help students apply what they are learning in realistic contexts.
Another component of the programme is introducing students to potential pathways to funding and providing practical insight into the steps involved in starting a business.
The programme is now approaching week five and has been well received by both students and facilitators. Student participation has been consistent, with a strong group of regular attendees engaging positively with the sessions.
The Building Entrepreneurial Capital programme provides students with an opportunity to extend their learning beyond the classroom while developing knowledge and skills related to enterprise and entrepreneurship.
