Students recognised for progression, leadership, and commitment to future academic pathways.
The Health Science Academy Fono celebrated student achievement through its formal badge ceremony, marking key milestones in students’ academic pathways and leadership development.
Year 11 students were welcomed into the programme with Bronze badges, symbolising their entry into the Health Science Academy. Year 12 students received Silver badges, recognising their progression into leadership roles. Year 13 students were awarded Gold badges, commemorating their final year and sustained commitment to their academic and professional pathways.
Special recognition was given to the newly appointed HSA Leaders: Zenaida Tuvuifale, Judith Fynn, Ashley Dutt, and Kalea Kienga.
The Principal addressed the audience, highlighting the importance of clear academic pathways and the role of the Health Science Academy in supporting students towards future success.
The event featured guest speaker Dr Colin Chan Chui, an OHS alumnus, whose journey from school to a career in medicine highlighted the opportunities that can emerge through dedication and active participation in the Health Science Academy.
The programme also included performances by Year 13 students Kalea Kienga and Ashley Dutt. In addition, Moana Connect, the primary providers of the programme, were introduced. Working in partnership with 13 schools, Moana Connect plays a key role in supporting academic pathways by providing resources and industry connections that strengthen the Health Science Academy.
The evening concluded with a formal acknowledgement delivered by Head Prefect Tali Feu’u, followed by a closing karakia.
