Level 3 Earth and Space Science students deepen their understanding of astrobiology through a Stardome visit.
The Search for Life in the Galaxy presentation was a highlight for our Year 13 Earth and Space Science students, sparking strong interest and thoughtful discussion about the possibility of life beyond Earth.
Last Friday, students visited the Te Whatu Stardome Observatory and Planetarium, with the trip organised by Ms Dwane and Ms Heyworth. Educator Josh delivered a programme designed to support their learning, taking students on a virtual journey through the Solar System.
This term, students are researching Europa and Enceladus, examining their environments and the potential for life. During the session, they explored the position of these moons, compared their scale, and analysed images captured by satellites and space missions.
Josh’s knowledge and delivery encouraged curiosity and deeper questioning, helping students connect their classroom learning with real world science.
Students also represented the school well, demonstrating maturity and focus while sharing the experience alongside visiting primary school groups.
