OHS students helped run O-League matches at Mt Smart Stadium, taking on match-day roles including ball kids, mascots, and ball carriers.
Over the past three Wednesdays, OHS students have been working as ball kids at the O-League matches at Mt Smart Stadium, gaining hands-on experience in a professional football environment. On 20th May, they were involved in the semi-final between South Melbourne and Vanuatu United. Students took on a range of roles, including flag bearers, captain mascots, and ball kids—helping keep the game running smoothly by retrieving balls quickly.
Nathan Inglis, Ryan Lee, and Ethan Levy were selected as ball carriers, presenting the match ball to the referee before kickoff.
For students in the Football Academy, this is part of their service requirement and a chance to be involved in the game at a higher level. OHS girls’ teams will also get the opportunity to take part in an upcoming international fixture.
