Students examined the impact of protest movements and media through a museum-based learning experience linked to their NCEA assessment work.
Last week, students explored the role of protest movements and media through a museum learning experience connected to their NCEA assessment work.
Last week, our Level 3 Social Studies students took their learning beyond the classroom with a visit to the museum in Parnell. A key focus of the trip was the Mana: Protest in Print exhibition, which explores the role of print media in political expression and indigenous rights movements.
The experience supported students in their preparation their internal assessment, where they examine how social actions influence society. Through analysing both historical and contemporary protest material, students gained valuable insight into the ways individuals and groups use activism to challenge ideas and create change.
The visit provided meaningful real-world context for their studies, and students represented OHS with curiosity, maturity, and respect throughout the day.
