Hands-on robotics brought STEMM learning to life.
Our Year 11 Pūhoro students recently took part in an exciting coding and robotics workshop using Micro robots. The hands-on experience challenged students to program their robots to complete a range of tasks, developing their coding, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills along the way.
Through a series of practical challenges, students explored how programming can be used to control movement, respond to different inputs, and solve real-world problems. The workshop provided an engaging introduction to concepts that underpin many areas of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), while encouraging students to think creatively and work collaboratively.
This learning opportunity forms part of the Pūhoro STEMM Academy, a kaupapa developed by Māori, for Māori, and with Māori to increase Māori participation in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and mātauranga Māori. Pūhoro was established in response to the underrepresentation of Māori in STEM-related pathways and careers and seeks to create meaningful opportunities for rangatahi to explore these fields from secondary school through to tertiary study and industry.
