Xavier White has earned his second selection to the New Zealand M16 Orienteering Team and will represent New Zealand at the European Youth Orienteering Championships in Slovenia.
Xavier White is preparing to represent New Zealand in the M16 grade at the European Youth Orienteering Championships, which will be held in Nova Gorica, Slovenia, from 25–27 June.
This will be Xavier's second appearance at the championships after making a successful debut last year in Czechia. The event brings together some of Europe's strongest young orienteers and provides a valuable opportunity for athletes to compete at an international level. The championships will feature three events across three consecutive days. The sprint race will be held in an urban setting, while the middle and long-distance races will take place in challenging forest terrain with steep hills, depressions, and elevations ranging from 820 to 1,070 metres above sea level. The demanding courses will test both endurance and navigation skills.
Following the championships, Xavier will return to New Zealand before travelling to Christchurch to compete at the New Zealand Secondary Schools Orienteering Championships from 16–18 July.
We wish Xavier all the best as he represents New Zealand on the international stage and look forward to following his progress in Slovenia.
